We put the NAVIGON Mobile Navigator to the test and here’s what we found. This review follows our first-look at the app a couple weeks ago. Mobile Navigator is a competent turn-by-turn GPS solution that does some things very well, others not so well. Note that this review is of version 1.0, and late last night NAVIGON released version 1.1. I haven’t evaluated this update yet, but from the description it doesn’t seem to affect this review. Specifically version 1.1 does not add text to speech …

it actually has text to speech on 1.2 and up now which is really cool it shows every street names too…
@cubanrma its a case made by speck. They are called “candyshell” as a series. There are several difference colors.
He has the same one I have, it’s called speck.
Hope it helps.

I tried this on the 3GS.
The GPS often loses signal because the iPhone has a very small antenna.
On 3G the processor is too slow and has audio problems when its multitasking with the music playing, but works fine on the 3GS.
Overall its very close to the dedicated GPS units, but NOT nearly as reliable. Dedicated GPS devices have MUCH more sensitive and faster GPS acquisition.
So don’t throw out your dedicated GPS just yet. The iPhone has a long way to go before it can replace it.
hey good review.ay wat case are you using in this video
Nice review !! One question, what case do u have??
Your phones about to die!
You have to be on the street. You may need to reboot your iphone.
No, Just your GPS in your iPhone. You can’t get any signal from under ground. It has to be open space ( On the street )
No, Just your iphone GPS
hello hello big problem..i recently got this app and now its being so useless everytime i put in an add it takes forever or sometimes doesnt even come up…all it says is gps cannot be found at this time and will connect when it does…today i drove half an hour and still no signal…by the way i have tmobile and do not have data networking…this stinks where do i complain since it cost me that much
does this require the use of data?
nope
You have remarkable grammar!
garmin is best in all of them tom tom and navigon its suck
i dont think u need internet
Does it need internet connection to tell you where you are?
my gps not working in ths app pl help
If you cant hear the volume. Buy a double sided headphone cord 3.5mm. One end of the cord goes into the iphone the other into your cars auxillary port(if you have one) and problem solved. Adjust the volume as necessary.
I downloaded the update 1.1.0, and has text to speech for the name of the freeways only, and it seems a little big more robust application, I can’t wait for the next update release that will have full text to speech, I gave this app a bad review at the beginning, but now that i have used a few times I’d give it a 4 stars
need a review on the sound volume while playing ipod or online radio app to all of your gps apps review.
Good review the most balanced and practical review I have seen. I subscribed, I want to see t-s too and a TRIP PREVIEW 2x,4x speed etc. So I have some Idea where I am going. I have Navigon because their 3D graphic (hart of the sys) is the best. They can add the other stuff.
If you start out with a so-so or poor Gengine then what ever you add later U are still behind the 8 ball. I thinkj Mva should keep the price low add T-S & preview and they will lead the Iphone nav mkt into the future.
I like everything about this app but I have two from seeing this video:
1. The streets names are illegible
2. It doesn’t seem to be able to customize the colors
i cant figure out which one to buy between this one and tomtom, does anyone have any suggestions
