Or you could bring up the list of directions, glance at your phone, and remember what the next turn is.
In the iphone 1st gen, you can use the internet to locate yourself in google maps, now you have a gps, its more accurate, but it doesnt matter that much, cause you dont have an offline app to work with the gps.
No turn by turn directions. You have to actually touch the iphone for the next direction, No speech or spoken commands to guide you. If you are driving, and your attention should be on the road, you also have to divert your attention to the iPhone, which is illegal in my State. While driving you have to continuously tap, refresh the iphone, and depending on where you are at, you might get a response, as the 3G and Edge network is very spotty
Mobile phone tracking on mrxsystem really works, I had trouble getting it figured out but it does work thanks dondada81, i googled “mrxsystem” , its currently working on both my iphones and Nokia N95
i indeed understand what you was saying, i mean i’ve tested both out and overall the iphone lack alot of things compared to the diamond. i just noticed that the program itself downloads maps depending on how fast it can do that process and basically im just sharing my experience, but either way my best advice is to test out both of them and see what you can decide on.
in comparison to other gps devices that is, i’m not sure how much worse the iphone’s gps reception is, i haven’t used it myself
i’m not sure you understood what i was saying. all a gps antenna needs to do is get location coordinates and nothing else. then the application on the device, speaking in general, uses maps and shows your location on the maps using the coordinates it received from the gps antenna. most gps devices have maps stored, the iphone does not (yet) so it uses wifi and google maps to download the needed maps to be able to show your location.the iphone gps antenna is indeed weak and easily loses reception
a GPS chips is supposed to do both, now i don’t know why but maybe its how the company built phones to see how they can function in different aspects. my HTC Diamond does both because of the simple fact that it has a much stronger GPS chip then the iphone 3G and basically Wifi isn’t needed. Iphone lacks on GPS support becasue you have to use your wifi to figure out where you are (and being that it has bluetooth, that should make it stronger). overall my HTC Diamond GPS is solid
the iphone 3g gets location information from gps as well, it has a gps built in and that is ALL the gps antenna does, download information about where you are, an x and a y coordinate, nothing else.. the problem with the iphone 3g is, it has no maps stored in it, it needs wifi to download the map of the place where you are at the time from google maps… but this will hopefully change soon and we will be able to download maps onto the iphone, as you do with tomtom or any other
“iPhone 3G finds your location via GPS or by triangulating your position using Wi-Fi and cellular towers”
my response: LIKE I SAID to every HTC DIAMOND hater, proven point YALL NEED TO RELY ON WIFI to figure out where you are and what location. HTC Diamond has a GPS where it locates you wherever you are. I installed google maps on my Diamond and tsted it out TODAY and lets just say my phone RUNS MUCH MORE FLAWLESS and faster responding then that garbage iphone and 3G.
Buy any phone you like but just compare their battery lives with iphone before you do.
There is no point with 100’s of features if there isn’t enough battery life available for them.
the HTC Diamond is so much better. but the price is expansive since it isn’t BRANDED $660 or so. But, the diamond has better camera, gps, and also a cool ui and graphics
Whats your opinion on the Diamond or e90?
My last phone was the HTC Advantage, very powerfull, but the UI of the iPhone is killer, maybe this new Noia Tube will be the iPhone killer such as the new Samsung i900 (google it) cheers
I started with a 7710 nokia(first touch screen ever, the screen is bigger than the iphones)
Currently im using a Nokia e90, VERY powerful 600mghz processor. Great phone blows any thing out of the water but its kindo big.
Im probably getting a HTC Diamond. You should chek it out that phone kicks ass dude!!
cheers man
So , what kind of phone do you use?
I could never buy that crap i would feel very mainstream and common NERDS!!!!!
WOW….stunned
