Android Offline Google Maps

Google is now Allowed caching (or store) large areas on your Android device based on where you use Maps the most and Using Selected Areas. And you can use Google Maps Navigator too (if Available at you Country) Google will download enough data to your Android device to reroute you without using internet, if you go off course.

I just got back from Spain, where I had the same problem as “ashishmohta.” Like ashishmohta, I was able to view my pre-cached map exactly once, after which google maps would not open (message: loading, loading, …, finishing with message that google maps required a data connection to open). What good is downloading an area map in anticipation of not having a data connection when google maps won’t even open without a data connection? Pathetic SQA, google.
